Class Descriptions

  • Girls dancing in tutus

    Nursery Ballet

Angela has developed a wonderfully creative, fun nursery ballet class that has become extremely popular. Using stories, magical ideas, props and inspiration from the children, this class not only builds confidence, coordination, musicality and imagination but works on all the elements that can be developed in later, more formal dance classes.

  • Girls dancing in leotards

    RAD Graded Classes

With our wealth of experience and knowledge, we will guide the pupils through the RAD Ballet syllabus from Pre-Primary in Dance to Grade 8. Although formal, our teachers make the classes exciting and engaging, while really imparting their love of dance to the pupils. Exams are offered in all grades should the children wish to take them. Grades 6, 7 and 8 provide high SQA points equivalent to National 5's.

  • Two girls dancing in leotards

    Vocational Ballet Classes

For those wishing to take ballet more seriously and to a higher level there is the option to take classes with us in Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced Foundation and Advanced 1.

These classes are challenging and when mastered give a huge sense of achievement. For pupils who would like to go on to a teaching career having passed the RAD Intermediate, they are then eligible to audition for the RAD teaching qualification which is a 3-year teacher's training course.

  • Two girls doing acro dance

    Acro Dance

Acro is a new dance style blending beautiful dance techniques with acrobatic skills. This is a fun and challenging class, although very physical, it is a very popular dance style and the pupils can achieve Acro awards throughout the year.

  • Girls dancing modern

    Modern Dance

This class focuses on technique, stretching, working from the corner with kicks, turns, travelling and having lots of fun as well as learning a wonderful dance style. Each term we will focus on a dance routine to various types of music from upbeat pop to movies, show stoppers, more lyrical, (Disney for the younger pupils) as well as a lot more.

  • Girls posing

    Commercial

Commercial dance has its roots in hip hop, being the kind of dance you see in pop videos, television commercials and in films. These classes are high energy, fun and engaging.

  • Woman dancing contemporary

    Contemporary

Contemporary dance is one of the most dominant styles of today and combines jazz, lyrical and ballet, working on strong leg technique and the upper back. There will be a creative, contemporary dance routine at every class led by our very talented teacher and choreographer, Hayley Hardie.

  • Dancers on stage

    Musical Theatre

This wonderful class is triple disciplined, combining dance, acting and singing to tell stories usually associated with Broadway or the Westend. Musical Theatre has also been portrayed on the tv, it is an extremely popular art form especially in recent years with many musicals touring the world and to our theatres here is Edinburgh. We have two incredible teachers teaching this class.

  • Dancers on stage

    Jazz/Lyrical Dance

Two very popular dance styles due to the rise in dance competitions on and off television. Our Jazz/Lyrical dance classes combine elements of the fun, fast paced jazz style with the slightly slower lyrical dance. We will work on all the technique required for jazz and lyrical including travelling steps, turns and stretching. Pupils will also have the opportunity to learn a dance routine at every lesson.

  • Adult Tap

Tap is a wonderful form of exercise, it is a dance style that makes rhythms with the toe and heel taps. The class combines technique, rhythm, dance and fun to lots of music genres. It is also a fantastic way to get fit at the same time as learning to tap dance.

  • Lady and child dancing

    Parent & Me Classes

Bring your little one to a wonderful hour of dancing, skipping, hopping, marching, singing, playing instruments, using props and having fun.

Grown ups are definitely encouraged to join in to bond together, have refreshments and natter! We will provide hot drinks, juice and biscuits. We cannot wait to boogie with you!
