Adult Workshop with Bethany Kingsley-Garner, Sunday 17th March

Angela Watson School of Dance will be hosting a day retreat with ex Scottish Ballet Principal ballerina Bethany Kingsley-Garner.

The theme of each Day Retreat and the repertoire will be be none other than the iconic White Swan solo from Scottish Ballet’s production of Swan Lake.

Each Day Retreat will begin with a floor barre and mobility warm up before a 2 hour ballet class. After a lunch break will be the Swan Lake repertoire workshop, photo opportunities and then to finish, a relaxing stretch and breath work session to allow the body to fully restore.

The character of Odette, the white swan, symbolises femininity, vulnerability and innocence whilst also being brave and determined, all of which is portrayed with the calm and generous use of upper body, port de bras, striking leg movements and slow, controlled turns. An exciting challenge of your technique and endurance! Modifications of the choreography will be made to suit all participants at the appropriate level.

These Day Retreats are tailored for adult ballet dancers at an Improver level, and those at a strong Beginner level who wish to challenge themselves are also welcome!
